Books were always one of the things that I enjoy but isn’t something that I get to enjoy as often as I would like to. This book was gifted to me from one of my friends for my birthday and I finally was able to get around to reading it.
This book written by Khaled Hosseini who is also the author of Kite Runner. The story starts with the lives of two individuals named Mariam and Laila. Both of these individuals live absolutely two different lives. Mariam lives with her abusive husband while Laila comes from a comparatively privileged life.
As the book continues, Laila is forced into a marriage with Mariam’s husband; these two individuals are then forced to into living with each other and working together to deal with upcoming situations.
It is an interesting book and circles around friendship between women and the hardships of women in another culture. This book gives you a glimpse of the daily life in Afghanistan and it definitely made me realize how fortunate I am living in Canada. I won’t say too much more about the book but this book is a must-read!
Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice was honestly one of my favourite books from the Jane Austen box set that I bought. I actually bought the box set a few years ago, but I had never got around to reading all the books. This was the first one that I chose to read from them, and I was not left disappointed.
The relationship that Mr. Darcy has with Elizabeth is so romantic. I’m a bit of a sap when it comes to romance books like these. Definitely a classic book to pick up. Elizabeth is such a spunky character and knows how to speak her mind. Mr. Darcy on the other hand is a reserved individual. He is captivated by Elizabeth’s character. The book revolves around the situations involving both these characters, family issues and then some.
Overall this book was just amazing. I rated this a 4/5 stars. If you want a classic book to read, definitely feel free to pick this one up!
I will try to make some more book reviews, but definitely been so busy lately. So glad to be able to have some free time again to write to you all. Cheers!
